Review of "Out of the blue" by Tuber

New

Heavy, impactful and energetic. These are some of the words that come to mind when describing Tuber’s recent studio effort, the full-length album “Out of The Blue.”

This talented Greek band set out to take the local music scene by storm and beyond: their edgy blend of hard rock and alternative music is collecting acclaim and accolades throughout the world, as growing numbers of fan continue to support the band and download their music.

“Out of The Blue” channels the band’s various musical influences, ranging from sludgy stoner rock to ethereal psychedelic and classic rock. This is a guitar-driven record with massive punch and lots of depths.

This band truly learned the lesson from some of the most influential sludge and alternative rock bands of the past 20 years. Their music is highly diverse and if you listen closely, you can understand where these talented musicians found their inspirations. The songs have their own unique personality, of course, but you can certainly discern shades of Kyuss, Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Queens of The Stone Age or even Sound Garden, just to mention a few. Tuber has managed to develop a personal, organic and authentic blend of rock music, with lots of integrity and depth.

Their instrumentation is set up in a very simple way, yet it is very engaging and right to the point. The rhythm section, for example, is as solid as a monolith, often spiced up with cavernous re- verb tones and other effects. This makes for a haunting tone with a hint of psychedelia.

These musicians aren’t afraid to break the pattern and experiment with synth lines and other electronic soundscapes to add a different palette of colors and textures to this release. While songs such as “Cat Class” reveal the band’s ability to experiment with genres close to industrial and electronica, “Luckily Dead” reveals their connection with old school rock sonic assault, with nasty fuzzed out guitars and hard-hitting grooves. “Noman” is probably one of my favorite tracks on the record, with over 8 minutes of its edgy arrangement that constantly evolves and morphs into something different.

"Tree Trunks" is the second single from Basement Revolver and is off their upcoming EP 'Agatha' out on 21st July On Yellow K Records (U.S.) and fear of missing out records (U.K.)

'Tree Trunks' was written when I started experiencing panic attacks for the first time, and my increasing need to find a professional who could help me to find better ways to cope. It also tries to mirror how I imagine the environment feels sometimes - and how the environment is tied to many people's mental health. I was very fortunate to find the help that I needed and I would encourage everyone to go after the mental health resources that are available to them."

New single "Into Sun" by Low Sun

2017-06-28 06:16:13 UTC

New

Low Sun just released their  first single, “Into Sun”. The track comes ahead of a split they are a part of called Human Sun with  Toronto band HUMANITIES - out July 13, 2017.

"Lyrically on “Into Sun” we wanted to experiment with how we could dissect and ultimately expand on the seemingly mundane experiences people tend to let pass them by. Mostly, we were curious as to what separates an everyday, or random observation, with one that is powerfully religious in its essence. Sometimes we are unaware that attention and perception are the only things that separate the two."

The Human Sun split contains their  first two songs which serve as an intro to their band. Their contributions to the release are also pieces of their  upcoming full length which they  plan to release this fall.

Review for the new EP "I Wanna Be Exploited" by Tommy Red

A combination of retro aesthetics, enduring lyrics and alt-rock grit. The best music happens when artists refuse to remain stuck in their own comfort zones and creative boxes. Whenever this happens, they are free to give full range to their vision, and they can really come up with something that’s groundbreaking and personable. This is certainly the case here with Tommy Red and his brand new EP release, “I Wanna Be Exploited.”
