Line Gate was formed in Michalovce, Eastern Slovakia in 2010. Since then some personal changes were made and now a solo incarnation is residing in Prague. After two years of solitary bedroom experimentation and almost four years after the debut “Split Lines”, Line Gate is coming with a new album, Den.
Mappa presents Den, a simple concept with a clear vision. A deep dive into endless repetition without any disturbing intervention, with only soft modulation of a hurdy-gurdy drone resonance. Den reveals minimal shifts in repetition and the possibilities of perception without the horizon of time.
At forty minutes long, the basis of the recording remains constant. What differs, is the listener's awareness and the wakefulness of the performer himself. Tension retreats to sensibility, release, and an opportunity to totally merge with the instrument and the physicality of sound fulfilling the room. Den is a burrow where inattention dissolves into calm perception of fluid measureless soundscape.

Joel Porter started playing music at an early age, starting with violin and then moving onto french horn (5th grade), guitar and bass (6th grade), and songwriting in high school. Porter and Eric Hillman (producer + 1/2 the band Foreign Fields) recorded everything on 'Mountain Twin' in the Dark Heart studio by themselves, covering violin, guitar, bass, piano, trumpet, french horn, and vocals, as well as any electronic samples you might hear. the Porter explains that Mountain Twin' EP is about growth. Over the course of four folk-based, painstakingly carefully crafted songs, which include a song he co-wrote with his musician parents, he illustrates the nature, feelings, memories and what it means to seek for the truth. You can easily feel yourself being in the desolate plains, where the snow is falling, the river is flowing and the mountains howling.
Martyn Jackson is a Neo-Classical/Post-Rock composer and musician from Portishead (Bristol). His previous releases include the 2013 release of "Home", and the score for the 2016 BBC short film "Leonard's Neighbours".
