A Shoegaze band from Glasgow, Scotland who employ blissed-out dense fuzz drones, reverberated hypnagogic vocals and hazy echoes as their sonic trademark. The Cherry Wave formed in 2012 and have since released a self-titled demo, which received a cassette release on Good Grief Records. The now sold out cassette also featured hand made packaging by artist Anna Kraay. Their EP entitled 'Blush' followed and was released by Lamppost Records and Wolf Among Wolves Records, the CD version of which has also sold out.
At the end of 2014 the band signed to the American Shoegaze label Saint Marie Records, home of SPC ECO, Lightfoils, Panda Riot, Seasurfer, Spotlight Kid, Sway and many more. Saint Marie Records released their debut album 'Avalancher' in early 2015. They also repackaged and re-released the band's popular 'Blush' EP. You can now find their music for sale everywhere from Amoeba Music in Los Angeles to File Under Records in Nagoya, Japan. Following the release of 'Avalancher' they went on to play their first show outside of Scotland. In the Autumn of 2015 they joined Johnny Marr, Spiritualized, Echo And The Bunnymen, The Fall, Young Fathers, Public Service Broadcasting and more at the inaugural Rockaway Beach Festival in England.
Since 2012 they've shared the stages of Glasgow with many bands, including Ringo Deathstarr, No Joy, Pinkshinyultrablast, The Telescopes, Dead Rabbits, St Deluxe, The KVB, Holy Esque, The Yawns, Nothing, Paws, Milk Teeth, Le' Thug, Dengue Fever and countless more.
Glasgow quartet The Cherry Wave have rounded off the edges of their wall-of-noise-pop on sophomore album Shimaru, released on Monday 23 January 2017.
Recorded with Lewis Glass at Glassworks Studio Recording in Glasgow, Shimaru is a more considered and less out-and-out noisy follow-up to their 2015 debut Avalancher. Self-released and self-funded, Shimaru is ten tracks of noisy shoegaze pop and a great introduction to the band if you’re not yet familiar with them.
New track "Immediate Engagements" from Blue Plutos, it's off the act's recently released full-length, 'Moon Language'.
Off the group's new album 'Moon Language', "Immediate Engagements is about getting older and recognizing the need to really focus attention on the interests or hobbies or matter most, in order to feel like we're maximizing the time we have on this Earth.
"As far as the writing of the song, we wanted to write a song that was really straightforward but also kind of chugging at the same time," Ryan Agnew explains. "I was listening to a lot of Beach House and and you will know us by the trail of dead... while we were recording it which I think is reflected in the production of the song. The riff at the end of the song is a very fun one to play and was written separately but fits well - it also has a really nice solo from Tyler. "
The trio - based out of both Brooklyn, NY and Boston, MA - is comprised of Tyler and Matt Agnew, in addition to Mat Lundin. Their 2014 EP, Dennett St, combined jangle-pop with cut-up electroacoustic beats, and reverb-drenched samples. The new album pursues a more layered, eclectic sound.

Maya Killtron's new single, “Bad Decisions” is a review of some of her best romances and worst choices in the field of love. It’s honest but light, real but unapologetic, and always dancy. This new track was inspired by her influences but is something new and dynamic that can only register as authentic Maya Killtron."
A combination of retro aesthetics, enduring lyrics and alt-rock grit.
The best music happens when artists refuse to remain stuck in their own comfort zones and creative boxes. Whenever this happens, they are free to give full range to their vision, and they can really come up with something that’s groundbreaking and personable. This is certainly the case here with Tommy Red and his brand new EP release, “I Wanna Be Exploited.”
