"Leave,” marks my first release on a new label since 2013’s Somewhere Else LP (4AD). It is a love song about being trapped in a circle of love, fighting for the good in a life. It is a desire of being close while entertaining the possibility of drifting into the unknown. It is a love song full of despair.

It has been four years since I last released music as Indians when I contributed to the soundtrack for John Green’s cult novel-turned-motion-picture The Fault in Our Stars with my song “Oblivion.” After much consideration, I have decided to return to the moniker. The world has changed drastically since 2014, so I feel that it is important for me to elaborate upon this choice.

Indians has never had anything to do with politics or any group of people. For me, the word represents a human being who merely chooses to celebrate nature and spirituality – someone whose connection with the universe transcends what meets the eye. I felt inspired after reading The Wind Is My Mother, a book that provided me with guidance and understanding. Years later, I recreated that same solace in my own music. I want to celebrate the bigger and more important things in life – the things we don’t see but can feel through music."

Review for the new EP "I Wanna Be Exploited" by Tommy Red

A combination of retro aesthetics, enduring lyrics and alt-rock grit. The best music happens when artists refuse to remain stuck in their own comfort zones and creative boxes. Whenever this happens, they are free to give full range to their vision, and they can really come up with something that’s groundbreaking and personable. This is certainly the case here with Tommy Red and his brand new EP release, “I Wanna Be Exploited.”
