Northwest are an experimental-pop duo based in London, founded in late 2015 by composer, producer and multi- instrumentalist Ignacio Simón and singer, composer and producer Mariuca García-Lomas. Their music explores different genres, from contemporary classical music and avant-garde electronica to experimental pop, psychedelia and trip-hop. Their debut single, Reflection, was released to critical acclaim in 2015, followed by Look at Me, Wind (2016) and Dimaryp and Sun (2017) where they explored diverse musical lands that drew comparisons to artists such as Scott Walker, and Portishead. Their live shows and videos (with a flavor reminiscent of old soviet movies, pre-raphaelite pictures and elements of dance and theatre improvisation) have demonstrated that Northwest are, little by little, crafting and curating a unique and promising universe.
From 2015 to 2017, the duo recorded and produced the material for their first LP at different spots around England (an old church in the middle of the countryside, the studios of City, University f London and different cottages around South England). Their first full-length release ("I") came out in July 2018.
Over the last years, Northwest have been very outspoken about the reality of being an independent artist in the actual technological and internet era and have share their intention to search for new and innovative ways not only in music-making, but also in communication, listening modes and promotion. The atypical release of their debut album is an example of that. They have also generated different series of video-art aiming to reflect on the limits of music. These series have also showcased that Northwest is not only music, but a playground for different forms of art to blend (cinema, illustration, animation, dance, performance, technology, etc).
Northwest have toured all around Europe throughout 2017 and 2018 and have already in countries such as United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Netherlands, Russia, Latvia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia, Montenegro and Albania.
Some months after the release of the eerie single Dimaryp, Same Old Sky is the second single from Northwest’s upcoming first album, which will be out in January 2018.
This new song by this London-based duo features an innovative and experimental sound, where classical instruments, tube organs and heavily-reverbed join forces with Mariuca García-Lomas’ melancholic vocals.

This Spanish-born project will kick off an extensive tour that will bring their mesmerizing live shows to countries such as France, Germany, Netherlands, Italy or Russia.

A combination of retro aesthetics, enduring lyrics and alt-rock grit.
The best music happens when artists refuse to remain stuck in their own comfort zones and creative boxes. Whenever this happens, they are free to give full range to their vision, and they can really come up with something that’s groundbreaking and personable. This is certainly the case here with Tommy Red and his brand new EP release, “I Wanna Be Exploited.”
