Forming in 2018, The Taboo Club are entirely of their own, comprising of and expressing the values of its individual members to create something heart-breakingly cathartic- a sound that commands attention and welcomes intimacy.
A consortium of artists based in and around the West Midlands, The Taboo Club write as one unit to compose music that blends, breaks and banishes musical conventions across many genres by embracing the gothic sensibilities of world music and art to create a sound that can only be described as cinematic.
Recorded and mixed by Ryan Pinson, ‘Strangers’ is the first single from the outfit and is now available on Spotify, Soundcloud and Bandcamp.
The single precedes a special and intimate show at The Victoria in Birmingham on the 29th of September, where the band will be making their headline debut with a show that promises to be evocative, atmospheric and unique.
From left to right, the band consists of Joshua Rochelle-Bates (bass guitar), Aiden Price (drums), Jack Ingaglia (guitar), Rob Lilley (vocals) and Ben Oerton (sax/keys).
A combination of retro aesthetics, enduring lyrics and alt-rock grit.
The best music happens when artists refuse to remain stuck in their own comfort zones and creative boxes. Whenever this happens, they are free to give full range to their vision, and they can really come up with something that’s groundbreaking and personable. This is certainly the case here with Tommy Red and his brand new EP release, “I Wanna Be Exploited.”
