"Over the last year Jesse and the Dandelions production values have been maturing alongside the songwriting content and we’ve come up with something we are really excited about. Our upcoming album, Give Up The Gold, is enriched with classic synth and guitar textures that pay respect to the past, all while still forging our own path forward. String sections, a cacophonous blend of noise, and heavily layered vocal harmonies push accessible pop hooks into psychedelically complex and intriguing harmonic territory that will reward any longtime listeners with new sonic treats for every repeated spin.
“Not Getting Your Way” is a song about people who have been handed everything, and how they respond when things don’t go as planned for them. It’s fun to be lyrically cheeky, and mysterious at the same time. It’s a sort of guitar-heavy crossover between Teenage Wasteland and songs from MGMT’s debut record. It feels really good to play live and is probably the most rock and roll song that we’ve ever created. That being said, it’s still thick with vocal harmonies and all the other dreamy, psychedelic elements that I’ve grown rather fond of over the last few years."
A combination of retro aesthetics, enduring lyrics and alt-rock grit.
The best music happens when artists refuse to remain stuck in their own comfort zones and creative boxes. Whenever this happens, they are free to give full range to their vision, and they can really come up with something that’s groundbreaking and personable. This is certainly the case here with Tommy Red and his brand new EP release, “I Wanna Be Exploited.”
