Sneakers is a soul-filled collaborative community of musicians and artists from the streets of Auckland, New Zealand. The community is lead by Nick Raven and Chris Dent, who have been writing and recording in living rooms, basements and bedrooms since 2014.  As the crew expanded the music took on new shapes. Sean Patterson, Matt Bizzle, Hannah Rolfe, and Dean Rodrigues make up a rich palette of sonic and visual wonder to draw from. Chris and Nick work closely together, with Nick taking a producer's approach and Chris using a hands-on singer/songwriter approach.

The result is a set of slick, emotive and groovy tunes. The project's debut single "Come Around Sundown" was released on October 4th, 2017.

"Come Around Sundown" started off as a funky acoustic number, but after we jammed with the live band it found a new life with disco beats, psychedelic organs, slick guitar and soulful sax," Chris explains. The entire song was recorded in Chris’s inner city Auckland lounge using borrowed gear and an abundance of time. Two years on the band set up at Depot Sound Studios in Auckland with Morgan Allen to sculpt the mix. The song was then sent to Sage Audio in Nashville, where it was mastered by Steve Corrao.

Hill's new album, Give It a Rest, is scheduled for release in 2018. The the title track was picked up for exclusive rotation on KCRW in Los Angeles almost immediately following its completion, where she was invited to make her American debut in the fall of 2015. She has since been signed to an American EDM Label (Ultra Music) as a topline writer, and completed a large body of work. The new video/single for her song ‘On Camera’ was directed by Caitlin Cronenberg.

"Working with Caitlin felt effortless. The creative approach was fluid and allowed for deviation from the original treatment, which made the whole process feel more authentic and fulfilling. Analog stop-motion - especially with Caitlin's eye for absolutely stunning still frames - is the perfect "subtle nod" to the lyric. The song is about bdsm, essentially. From the perspective of the submissive - it's about power being willfully surrendered. It was written over a trap beat but with all the experimental soul elements as an overlay."

New single - Bad Decisions by Maya Killtron

2017-01-19 05:32:02 UTC

New

Maya Killtron's  new single, “Bad Decisions” is a review of some of her best romances and worst choices in the field of love. It’s honest but light, real but unapologetic, and always dancy. This new track was inspired by her influences but is something new and dynamic that can only register as authentic Maya Killtron."

Genre : disco, funk, pop

Review for the album "These are truly the last days" from These are truly the last days

These Are Truly The Last Days is a musical project with a driven experimental twist. Their music blurs the lines between various genres, including ambient, electronica, glitch hop, and more. The project’s self-titled studio effort features 11 studio tracks.

Review for OVUM by Chronotope Project

Crafting a concept album is an incredibly difficult task. Tying together a cohesive narrative across a record’s worth of songs isn’t just daunting, it’s an endeavour that even some of the industry’s finest have failed to do memorably. This task, however, becomes notably more difficult when you’re dealing in the abstract via instrumental soundscapes. That is what Chronotope Project, the moniker of composer Jeffrey Ericson Allen, attempts to do with his latest project, ‘Ovum.’
