Line Gate was formed in Michalovce, Eastern Slovakia in 2010. Since then some personal changes were made and now a solo incarnation is residing in Prague. After two years of solitary bedroom experimentation and almost four years after the debut “Split Lines”, Line Gate is coming with a new album, Den.
Mappa presents Den, a simple concept with a clear vision. A deep dive into endless repetition without any disturbing intervention, with only soft modulation of a hurdy-gurdy drone resonance. Den reveals minimal shifts in repetition and the possibilities of perception without the horizon of time.
At forty minutes long, the basis of the recording remains constant. What differs, is the listener's awareness and the wakefulness of the performer himself. Tension retreats to sensibility, release, and an opportunity to totally merge with the instrument and the physicality of sound fulfilling the room. Den is a burrow where inattention dissolves into calm perception of fluid measureless soundscape.

We All Die! What A Circus! Is the solo studio project of João Guimarães from Portugal and was created in 2013. It all started with the release of the EP Drowning Gives Meaning To Breath (June, 2013) which consisted of soundscapes (synths, samples, field-recordings) mixed with post-rock and "folk" guitars with a minimalist approach focusing on the atmosphere. The song "Drowning Gives Meaning to Breath" was featured on the RibsOut Compilation 6 and the song "Hold" was featured on the compilation The Best of Portuguese Post-Rock 2013 made by the Portuguese website Planeta Post-Rock.
In September of 2014 the first full-length "Until The Cosmos Takes Me Back"was released featuring more drone elements, intricated guitar-work and a more layered sound, featuring two singles: From India To Gaza I, one of the highlights of the album with a strong guitar-lead dwelling in the air with its simplicity, and Old Village In Space which combines a sense of nostalgia with an eerie slow-pace solo. The album was considered one of the best Portuguese albums of the year by the website Bandcom and the song "Our Dust Turned Into This" was featured on the compilation The Best of Portuguese Post - Rock 2014 by Planeta Post-Rock.
Between 2015 and early 2017 the new self-titled album was recorded expanding the sound of the project with a different concept, including elements of dark jazz, modern classical all warped up by reverb-drenched drone soundscapes and also post-rock guitar featuring drums for the first time.
The album was released on March, 3, 2017. Conceptually it deals with the existential issues of human life, the need for a meaning of life and/or the lack of it; and how time and space wraps our own existence. It was inspired by the thoughts of philosophers and writers like Emil Cioran and Charles Bukowski (his famous poem Bluebird is recited on that song) and is a homage to them. Sound-wise this album makes heavy use of drone synths and field-recordings processed with various effects setting the atmosphere; some elements of dark jazz and classical modern piano; post-rock guitars for the lead melodies and harmonies and a sparse use of drums, mostly downtempo. Some said it resembles Angelo Badalamenti and Bohren & der Club of Gore making post-rock.

The Steep is a solo project by Tavis MacLeod. Who plays all instruments and records all of the tracks.
A lot of moving parts at work here: primitive drumming, layers of drones, ambient guitars, chants, and bagpipe sounds. The juxtapositions and tones are intentional, and are used to convey a specific mood and a sense of urgency. An attempt at bravery and beauty. Music fit for battle. Resistance Drills.

Interns’ first incarnation came to be in 2013 as a side-project between bassist Christian Harris and guitarist Andrew Reinhardt while playing together in the Louisiana-based jazz collective The Telegraph Salesmen, along with the leader of the group, Carter MacFarland, on drums. Many of the songs featured on Vanity Mirror were written during this time period.
The group dissolved in 2014, as Harris and Reinhardt separated geographically. After a three year hiatus, the two found themselves both living in Austin, Texas. With the addition of drummer James Bauer and guitarist Cole McDonnell, the group began to rework and refine the existing material, as well as write new music. The music combines the atmospheric nature of modern post-rock built around a classic psych framework.
Interns recorded their first studio album Vanity Mirror at Earthship Studios in Baton Rouge, with recording engineer and producer Benjamin Livingston. The album features guest musicians Sungkyung Woo, violin, Blayke Weatherford, vibraphone, and Carter MacFarland, keyboards.
Vanity Mirror was released on February 21st, 2017, and is available on all major streaming platforms. A physical release is to follow.
Interns aim to frame the ambient, spacey goodness of post-rock around a structure that is easily digestible for listeners of any background. Like much of their peers, they forego lyrics in an attempt to let their instruments convey their thoughts and emotion.

Sea Yarns - Death of a Giant EP is a modern take on instrumental surf music for places that are not necessarily sunny or sandy. As a fan on old surf music from the early 60's, I wanted to make surf music that is more relevant by todays standards that represent the cold, seasonal, moody, rocky shoreline that I know and grew up next to, rather than the sunny and sandy all the time beaches and surf culture of southern California in the 60's, which I know nothing about.
