New album Cemetery Flowers by Cemetery Flowers

New

Philadelphia noiserockers Cemetery Flowers released their debut EP this week through Glowing Dagger, the Oakland tape label run by Megan Biscieglia of Bad Braids and Dustin Khebzou. Made up of multi-instrumentalists Andrew North and Pat Friel, the record is an intense tapestry of roaring guitars and cold, nervy electronic beats, with North and Friel howling nihilistically. The record is a gripping listen, all the way through the 15-minute closer “vi,” which hammers away in brutal riff repetition but is pretty impossible to turn away from.

Live At Sunrunner by Arbor Lights

A2522256063 10

Arbor Lights have been making a racket in their home town of Birmingham since 2010.   Greg, Alex,  Matt and James stole their name from the pub where they met. They self-released their first single On A Sea in 2011, and a self-titled EP in 2012 & a full length album called "Hatherton Lake" in 2013. Since then they have gigged around Birmingham (and occasionally further afield) with too many amazing bands to name.

Last February Arbor Lights  were invited to Birmingham City Uni to record a live session for their friends at Sunrunner Sessions. The video never came together but these four new songs feel like a nice snapshot of where they 've  been since Hatherton Lake came out. This release, as ever, is pay-what-you-want, but all proceeds will be donated to a local charity. CHADD is a housing association working around the Black Country to provide shelter to the homeless, both young and old, and victims of domestic abuse. The work they do is more important than ever and they wanted to do their part to help a cause that's close to them on a personal level. Please consider giving generously.

  • If We Don't Learn From History Channel, We Are Doomed To Repeat History Channel - 07:36

Den by Line Gate

2017-03-19 05:24:47 UTC

New

Line Gate was formed in Michalovce, Eastern Slovakia in 2010. Since then some personal changes were made and now a solo incarnation is residing in Prague. After two years of solitary bedroom experimentation and almost four years after the debut “Split Lines”, Line Gate is coming with a new album, Den.

Mappa presents Den, a simple concept with a clear vision. A deep dive into endless repetition without any disturbing intervention, with only soft modulation of a hurdy-gurdy drone resonance. Den reveals minimal shifts in repetition and the possibilities of perception without the horizon of time.

At forty minutes long, the basis of the recording remains constant. What differs, is the listener's awareness and the wakefulness of the performer himself. Tension retreats to sensibility, release, and an opportunity to totally merge with the instrument and the physicality of sound fulfilling the room. Den is a burrow where inattention dissolves into calm perception of fluid measureless soundscape.

...in ocean where Poseidon, Eliane Radigue, Phill Niblock, Charybdis, La Monte Young, Moby Dick, … are throning

Track List

Den - 42:46

Genre : experimental, drone, electroacoustic, experiemental, minimal, minimalism

New album Quais São os Verdadeiros Monstros da Meia-Noite? (Which are the True Midnight Monsters?) by Sites de Fantasmas

2017-03-19 05:14:04 UTC

New

"Somewhere between madness and lack of education, Diablo 2 and adolescent sweat, the mysticism of the big world computer network and the TV attached alone in the living room. From that place in your mind that you do not know invented or The pastime glued to the upper molar and the acidity of Coca-Cola in the depths of his tongue imploding his palate in a fractal of crazy memories and associations and a very secret truth that one day you almost understood and today lives in the Part of your dreams that you no longer remember.

It is from these things that "Which are the True Midnight Monsters?", The first record of the Phantom Sites project, is done. Composed in a solo way by Felipe Soares (Amandinho, 151515) he cuts nostalgias, adds sensations, coexists between opposites and finds in a network of memories that we think are intimate and insurmountable.

The abstract romanticism of the beginning of the millennium, the first generation that grew more inside the internet than it had been and now does not know what to do and that mainly does not know to differentiate the things that believe othe things in itself. Who did not see the end of the world but knew the end of the Polara that is much worse. The profile of your friend who has a child,  works, and does not care much more for the internet. It's about this ocean where you came from and now it separates you that this disc speaks.

Phantom sites clandestinely accessed on the computer of their friends' parents. The midnight monsters between unfinished purchases and that message you never answered. Conspiracies, terrorists and the myth of freedom. Now at a young pace.

Review for "I Want to Stand Where the Sun Himself Shakes with Fear" by Voices from Deep Below

Even though the independent rock scene is quite inundated with new acts, there’s always a welcome place for an outfit that changes the formula enough to be consistently interesting and worth taking notice of. The New York-based alternative rock group Voices from Deep Below attempts to do just that, fusing together a variety of styles into a surprisingly coherent sound. Their new record, “I Want to Stand Where the Sun Himself Shakes with Fear”, is a five song album that navigates alt-rock, experimental, and borderline metal and progressive influences all at the same time.
