UK alternative-shoegazers Whitelands pride themselves as new comers to the DIY scene. Created by lead singer and guitarist Etienne Quartey-Papafio in 2017, he was then later joined by drummer Jagun Meseorisa and bassist Edward Coma. With a fresh take on rock’n’roll and an array of eclectic influences, Whitelands are blessed with the ability to write heartfelt songs combined with the gritty and chunky distortion-heavy rhythms of a true post-punk or shoegaze trio.
Whitelands have now joined the MoonSwing Netlabel family, offering their charming, yet crashing self-titled sophomore release, 'Whitelands' for free download!
Cape Town-based four piece post-rock band Yndian Mynah burst into the atmosphere with an exhilarating introductory two-track demo EP and accompanying eight-track live album 'Live at Mercury', both out now via MoonSwing Netlabel showcasing their ability to bend genres like twisted wire; textural post-rock sections, driving alternative waves with hints of ferocious math and prog leanings, painting their ever-changing and delicately kaleidoscopic portrait.
Andrew La Tona is a songwriter / producer / multi-instrumentalist from Toronto, Canada. Active since 2001, Andrew has been a part of many different projects and genres, and is currently expressing himself as an alternative / experimental artist.
Released earlier this month, "Human" is Andrew's second full-length album in four years. Centered around the distaste for politicians and elite of today, this album boldly says what we've all felt grumbling inside us for a while now. The themes of fear, resentment, resistance and lack-of-fulfillment run strong through these eight tracks.
The lead single, "Power and Prowess" is sort of a story of distaste, sung loud and passionately overtop of an incredibly driving and powerful rock track with lots of danceability. It's about being fed up with the arrogance of the ruling class and their influence on our every day lives and the desire to be free from it.
"Human" is an album for everyone. It may be classified as an Alternative record, but the pop sensibility runs deep, world and latin rhythmic and melodic influences make numerous showcases, and Andrew's depth of musical influences shape this fresh independent release of the summer.
"I began writing Human in 2016 while I was in Costume Party with Andy Wiseman before I decided to leave the band and focus on writing more material on my own. I wanted to write and record anything that came naturally to me, and after a while, I realized I had a political album on my hands. Prior to this, I had written songs like "Want" (2014) and "I'll Bring You Down" (2015) which were of similar nature, but it was never really a full-time topic of mine. This time around I set out with a purpose."
Indigo People is a post-rock/ambient musical outlet of Chris Woodyard that he records in his room. "Eyes" is his first single since releasing his sixth album, a post-minimalism album, called 'Sunday Sketches' last September.
'Eyes' is an auditory experience of a soul that lays behind them. Filled with surrealist pianos and melodic bass, a story is told without saying a word.
A combination of retro aesthetics, enduring lyrics and alt-rock grit.
The best music happens when artists refuse to remain stuck in their own comfort zones and creative boxes. Whenever this happens, they are free to give full range to their vision, and they can really come up with something that’s groundbreaking and personable. This is certainly the case here with Tommy Red and his brand new EP release, “I Wanna Be Exploited.”
