Too Dark To See The Green by Wilroy

2018-03-18 02:06:39 UTC

0012600199 10

Raised in Edmonton, Canada, Wilroy takes R&B as his musical starting point. He’s now based in Liverpool, and cites influences ranging from hip-hop to electronic music and jazz. Recently selected by Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Music talent discovery initiative Future Bubblers, and played on BBC Radio 1Xtra, Worldwide FM & Bandcamp Weekly, 2018 looks to be a promising year for the producer.

Too Dark To See The Green, Wilroy’s debut EP serves as a cathartic journey through the arc of heartache, as told through the ghosts of 70’s soul men. His music paints grand, maximalist sonics: tracks change shape and mutate as they go, akin to the evolution of a dream. The EP’s 5 tracks wring out every last drop; from the opening nightmarish strings, and the dungeon-low dirge of the title track, to the liberated, gospel highs of Ascension.

Track List

  • Tomorrow - 04:21
  • Too Dark To See The Green - 04:33
  • What Goes Around - 02:06
  • Ascension - 06:48
  • Coldest Days - 05:30

Review for the new EP "I Wanna Be Exploited" by Tommy Red

A combination of retro aesthetics, enduring lyrics and alt-rock grit. The best music happens when artists refuse to remain stuck in their own comfort zones and creative boxes. Whenever this happens, they are free to give full range to their vision, and they can really come up with something that’s groundbreaking and personable. This is certainly the case here with Tommy Red and his brand new EP release, “I Wanna Be Exploited.”
