"Countless Ways" is a song of loss, a performance where the empty RSVP seats in a concert hall are lovers lost to memory. “Don’t pick up when I call” is that one-sided ending we all know too well. “Like you somehow appear” as a ghost, a phantom limb, that empty expectation of an impossible return as if from the dead.
The song divides into two major parts. In the first, the narrator goes from a dark longing to attempting acceptance: “I hope that you’re well” -- but your photos “can and do tell me that you’re longing”. By that halftime switch in the middle. we are cast far away as if in the audience ourselves being told to sing along.

Here he seems to come to full terms with the loss, the changes after a relationship are internalized and mutual. The song would conclude. but instead it pretty much starts over, but this time the duration is shorter, paralleling the process of acceptance.
In the age of social media we have “countless ways” to miss someone, to drive ourselves into the past with repetition and longing. Loss has never been harder, more public, more ruminative..
Brooklyn-based Trevor Gittelman has always had a revivalist sensibility, starting by singing for a classic/alt-rock cover band at 14 favoring music by Zeppelin, Radiohead and Muse. He had a knack for imitation but developed a more personal tenor style through college. His music production studies began during chronic illness in high school and college, the time he would spend alone recovering was also spent learning about sound design, arrangement and composition. Studying music composition and working with film scores he developed minimalist electronic music and dense psychedelic/hard rock in his home studio.
Gittelman gathered an ensemble around the solo project Van Vega in early 2014 and won Hofstra University’s battle of the bands. This performance with Phony Ppl and X Ambassadors gained the band a following, but inner band conflict caused the group to split. Van Vega has reformed in its third incarnation today but the vast solo productions accumulated over that long hiatus is now being released and performed as the one man show known as Trevor Forrest.
Gittelman's performances range from minimal acoustic to maximalist laptop productions. He uses a TC Helicon Voicelive 3 to achieve harmonies live and uses looping to create dense arrangements. His performances are intimate, psychedelic, and wide-ranging in style.
autoclub's musical aspirations began early. "My parents handed me a cheap guitar when I was seven years old. No lessons or anything, they just gave me the instrument to explore. I am so grateful for this, as I imagine that maybe if my parents had pushed me to take lessons first thing, I may not have been so open to the instrument. As you may have guessed, the guitar and I became quick friends and I spent a lot of my time noodling and figuring out my own chords. I didn't write my first real song that had a structure to it until I was 15 and used chords that I taught myself by ear from popular songs I was listening to at the time."
autoclub will be releasing two new singles within the next month, in addition to "Bring You Back", which follows up the single "Cat". I don't want to reveal too much about the songs themselves, but I will say recording them was some of the most fun I've had," autoclub says. "On the surface, someone listening might think, "Sure, this is a nice groove" but there is so much more recorded in the tracks that you could pick out by listening to the songs more than once. I'm talking about funky staccato guitar riffs, underlying vocalizations, and weird sounds made with odd instruments. I truly hope someone out there listening enjoys the songs as much as I enjoyed recording them."

True Gents are an 8-piece band from Scotland with a special vein of atmospheric, psych-infused jangle-pop. Formed by school-mates Euan Nicol and Toby Jeffery in 2006, True Gents would meet up in the haunting woods of lnvermay, Perthshire and work on songs late into the night upon formation. Shortly after beginning to write songs together, the duo entered and won a singer/songwriter competition at Perthshire Amber - The Dougie MacLean Festival. Over the past few years, Jeffery/Nicol have been working hard to continually progress as writers by introducing different elements into the band and adapting their styles. Working with talented local producers like Robin Wynn-Evans (Manic Street Preachers, Sam Brown, The View, Dodgy), and David Macfarlane (Red Pine Timber Company, The New Madricis), True Gents have created a back catalog of music which has received warm reviews over the years. Having gone down an alternative-folk route in the past with their self-funded EP in 2009 and their debut album 'In the Dark we Set Sail' in 2013, the band are now set to release their latest piece of work 'Blood Moon'.Their lineup changed not so long ago. Original members remaining include Jeffery/Nicol (guitar, vocals) and Ian Scobie (accordion/psychedelic keys). With the introduction of Stu (the thunder) Bennett on lead guitar, the hard-hitting Toole brothers on the rhythm section, and Rea Pirnie/Rosemary Stanford on backing vocals, the act's sound is more striking than ever. Again self-funded by the band, 'Blood Moon' will be the band's most rock-oriented sound to date with indie, folk-rock and psych-pop influences, ranging from many of the band's influences such as Turin Brakes, The Byrds, Magnolia Electric Company, Spiritualized, Andrew Bird, Sufjan Stevens, and more.
Instant Empire is a rock group from Denver that formed nearly eight years ago. Since then, they have released three EPs and a couple LPs, the most recent of which – 'Last of the Lovers' – will be released this August. The five-piece crafted the album with a concept centering around “the relentless march of time … consumed with finding grace and beauty in life’s tiny moments.”
The band's sophomore album is a beautiful listen, with a fairly dark theme complemented by bright and wonderfully contagious melodies. One of many highlights off the release is “Slow to Reveal”, a track with multiple vocal layers rising in intensity over shimmering guitars and an ’80s-tinged polish. The hook that features the lyrics “whispers and sideways glances” is full of intensity and supremely melodic songwriting, a great demonstration of the band’s talents.
“The initial spark for this song came after spending one too many days in Vegas, and all the heat, booze, gluttony and sickness that comes with that town,” vocalist and lyricist Scotty Saunders explains. “But the song eventually took on a larger rumination on how easily we let addiction and darkness into our lives. Depending on the situations you put yourself into, or the people you surround yourself with … evil can sometimes feel tangible. ‘Slow to Reveal’ explores that idea a bit.”

The best music happens when artists refuse to remain stuck in their own comfort zones and creative boxes. Whenever this happens, they are free to give full range to their vision, and they can really come up with something that’s groundbreaking and personable. This is certainly the case here with Tommy Red and his brand new EP release, “I Wanna Be Exploited.”
Marva Von Theo is an Electropop / Synthwave duo formed in 2016 by the Athens-based singer-songwriter Marva Voulgari and the Vienna-based composer-producer Theo Foinidis.
Their Debut Album “Dream within a Dream” was released early in 2018. The 12 songs on their Album, lean towards an electronic sound that incorporates a variety of influences ranging from the music of the 80’s until today. Darkwave sounds, Jazz harmonies, Rock and Dance drum beats resonate together and mature into something darkly romantic.
