Blair Coron is a musician and composer residing in Glasgow, Scotland, blending the borders between contemporary classical music, ambience, flourishes of electronics, folk and poetry and with the aid of a string ensemble his primary intention is to create enchanting atmospheres that sets course for introspection.

When he is not performing with the band, he regularly collaborates and composes for those in the other arts with a keen interest in how the arts can be translated between one another. New EP Surfacing by Whalezord

2017-06-07 04:56:17 UTC

New

Whalezord was born in Silesia region, Poland, in early 2016, originally as a trio. Until the late 2016 few songs were written and then the band had to decide about their direction and pick up a vocalist for the project. More screaming / growling approach was chosen and thus Whalezord started it's life as a real band, writing more and more material.

Remaining loyal to their hard-core and even punk origins, Whalezord members pick passion over anything else, mixing genres and following the path of continuous deconstruction. Deconstruction here is regarded as a tendency to dissect and dissolve parts of songs, adding not obvious influences and staying focused more on the flow than on a form.

Surfacing EP is the first release of Whalezord, containing three different songs to reflect various inspirations and flows. On Surfacing EP you can find three poems, sang and played with an individual flavour, reflecting band's attitude to art, poetry and immerse experience that reading poems whilst listening to music is for its members. All Whalezord's songs are inspired by poetry and contain poems instead of lyrics. Surfacing EP is no different and you can find following poems here:

1. Passing - Wisława Szymborska (Polish poet) - Cat in an empty apartment

2. Shore - Pablo Neruda (Chilean poet) - Here I love you

3. Surfacing, part I - Lewis Caroll (English poet) - Dreamland

  • Passing - 04:23 info
  • Ashore - 04:34 info
  • Surfacing, part I - 05:24

Review for OVUM by Chronotope Project

Crafting a concept album is an incredibly difficult task. Tying together a cohesive narrative across a record’s worth of songs isn’t just daunting, it’s an endeavour that even some of the industry’s finest have failed to do memorably. This task, however, becomes notably more difficult when you’re dealing in the abstract via instrumental soundscapes. That is what Chronotope Project, the moniker of composer Jeffrey Ericson Allen, attempts to do with his latest project, ‘Ovum.’
