New LP - Sky Stacked Full by Anna Atkinson

2016-10-29 23:00:29 UTC

Anna

Musings on childhood memories, human connection, anxiety, the joys and perils of solitude, death - what it means to be in the world. The songs were written over a span of ten years. There is a song Anna Atkinson wrote for her father seven years after he died. There is a song she wrote for her mother three years before she died. Anna Atkinson is fascinated by endeavours that take a long time. Slow moving, sometimes imperceptibly slow. Like quilting, writing a novel, making an album. Things for which there is no virtue in hurrying. Baking bread, snowshoeing up a mountain, knitting, gardening, growing up. In fact, they are processes we cannot hurry, try as we might. The album was recorded over a period of five months at CBC Studio 211 in Toronto, and features the playing of co-producer and guitarist David Occhipinti.

New track -My Baby's Gone Away by Trudy and the Romance

2016-10-26 05:15:19 UTC

Trudy

With a Big Moon support slot this autumn and SXSW in the bag, Trudy and the Romance’s scurvy ascent has been as pestilent as the plague, infecting hearts and minds everywhere. Labelled ‘50s mutant pop’ by assorted members of the press, their previous single ‘He Sings’ sallied lecherously up to number 7 on the UK Spotify viral charts. Their freakbeat flavoured skiffle clearly strikes a chord with legions of mutant fans everywhere and is a broken bottle to the face of blind conformity. With more material in the works and more gigging before the year is out, whatever Trudy and the Romance are cooking up will be a drunken witch’s brew of lovesick sea shanties and rabble rousing ditties. To all those who thought the age of romance in music is long dead, Trudy and the Romance stand defiant as mutated specimens of a bygone era.

Rednew

As a song, 'Damn' is about the power play between two people. The magnetism, the seduction… It’s about desire and heartbreak, about someone who has a hold on you. Red Rosamond grew up listening to stars like Aretha Franklin, Dinah Washington, Al Green & Tina Turner. Inspired by their work, with every song she writes, she aims to be true.

New Video – All You Need by Francis Moon

2016-10-05 00:00:00 UTC

Francis

The video was recorded during 2 days in Sweden last summer and was directed, produced and edited by Francis Moon. The song is about letting go of barriers and tries to look forward despite obstacles standing in front. A person can do so much with just some encouragement and new energy from people around. Sometimes it doesn´t require much to take that extra step in the right direction. This video and song might very well be all you need for today.

Review for Triad by Groundburst

GroundBurst is an instrumental rock trio whose sound strikes for the band’s kaleidoscopic approach and wide-open mindset. The band consists of Phil, Si, and Erik, respectively on guitars, bass & keys, and drums. These three talented musicians set out to create a lush, diverse and textural musical backdrop, borrowing from influences as diverse as electronic music, psychedelia, rock and even jazz with a minimalistic flair. Their recent release, “Triad” is an EP featuring 3 original compositions, as the title of the release might lead you to guess!
