The Laytcomers are a collective of ambitious losers, trapped inside a small Bay Area garage with a 4-track. They produce a mixture of noise rock, post-punk and even some elements of twee and Kiwi underground, all showcased on their new track "Population Grave"
"The first time we tried to come up with songs was when me (Ilya) and two of our other friends, who were original members of The Laytcomers, came to Cyes' place in Davis, where he went to college," Ilya explains. "I was hoping we were going to write some music, but at that time no one was really motivated to do anything, until I actually sat down with a cheap microphone myself and played/sang (pretty terribly), forcing everyone to contribute. Most of the sounds from that time were almost unlistenable. For drums we used a Guitar Hero drum set, which we used to write some of our first songs (Coldfront, Coppertone). There weren't a clear idea who does what, I was switching between bass and acoustic guitar, both of which I could barely even play at the time."
"We came a long way in terms of musical development and taste. In recent years our project The Laytcomers started to gain its own identity especially after we got two new members from Craigslist (Sam on saxophone and John on drums). We still walk a line between catchy indie-rock, based on short catchy bass lines and guitar riffs, psychedelic sounds and ear-bleeding noise rock with amp feedback and all kinds of noises."
"Our title song Population Grave wasn't coming along for awhile. We recorded original drum/vocal/guitar version almost five years ago. Something wasn't working out in it until I actually rethought the bassline from the scratch. It turned into a catchy angular post-punk thingy with roots in the no wave and New Zealand noise-rock."
NO//LIARS is a punk band, straight up no frills, no gimmicks. With one self-produced EP under their belt, they enlisted the help of Jesse Gander of Rain City Recorders (Japandroids, White Lung, The Pack A.D) to record their first full length, The Cause & The Cure (Due in early 2018). They also asked Joao Carvalho (Alexisonfire, Arkells, Silverstein, Protest the Hero) to master the album.
"‘Animal’ is the first single from the record and we think it showcases us at our best. At it’s root, ‘Animal’ is about struggling with inner turmoil and recognizing the darkest parts of ourselves. We wanted the video to portray the terror of losing touch with reality when facing one's inner demons."
"Reservoir of Impermanent Bliss" is the album from Low Sun out now via our buds at Art of the Uncarved Block.
"It is amidst the mundane and familiar moments where light seems eager to seep in and startle you from a spiritual pause. The finest way to pass the time is to transcend it; to stumble drunkenly upon a fervent richness. These are reservoirs of impermanent bliss. Cradle them tightly. Care for them as you would your child; as you would a smouldering ember between fires…"

Singer/songwriter Bradley Palermo has fronted the bands The Sudden Passion and Femme Fatality for the past 15 years. His solo work is equal parts indie folk and Americana. A fan at a recent show described his sound as “Hank 3 meets Bright Eyes,” which is right on the money with his strongest influences. Originally from St. Louis, MO, Bradley is currently based in Los Angeles.
Lie in the Sound blog wrote, “I usually fall for distinctive vocals.... Bradley Palermo’s voice got my heart within seconds.” His lyrics are no less heartbreaking than his vocals—autobiographical, alcohol-soaked tales of bar fights, arrest warrants, and failing at love. It’s what you might expect from a guy who has spent the majority of his life playing smoke-filled dive bars across the country. He manages to put a poetic spin on even the lowliest events. As Incognito Magazine put it, Bradley “shows some wordplay that would make Bob Dylan proud.”
As The Sudden Passion, he released two full-length albums (one on vinyl), an EP, a few singles, and a collection of demos. From time to time his music appears in unlikely places such as NBC’s The Voice, The CW’s 90210, and UFC’s Ultimate Insider. Lately Bradley has focused on his solo work, performing live as a one-man show with his guitar, harmonicas, and a ukulele. Bradley is currently recording new music and performing shows in various regions of the US.

"Rio" is a track about romance in an idyllic town, where the sea is close and where you can’t help but run into old friends at every turn. Cutting through the song’s bouncy rhythm, the lead guitar is blurred in a reverb haze like summer eyes after a long day in a chlorine pool. Descending chromatic runs and a tinge of minor keys give the song that quintessential surf vibe. The song’s essence is the carefree, laid back bliss the seaside evokes in all of us. No schedules, no plans.
"“Rio” is a reflection of what brought the band together in the first place. In frustration, our music calls out for a more simple life free from the tedious complications of the modern world. In that sense, at our core we are optimistic, and it is that optimism that is the real driving force behind the sound."
A combination of retro aesthetics, enduring lyrics and alt-rock grit.
The best music happens when artists refuse to remain stuck in their own comfort zones and creative boxes. Whenever this happens, they are free to give full range to their vision, and they can really come up with something that’s groundbreaking and personable. This is certainly the case here with Tommy Red and his brand new EP release, “I Wanna Be Exploited.”
