LV Baby's music has previously been featured in the show 'Broad City'. For the track "Super Powers" in particular, guitarist Black Bear and LV Baby teamed up with Pell to create the song in a moment of self-realization. "We see a bunch of super heroes on TV, but often fail to recognize the real life super heroes both in our communities and in ourselves," LV Baby explains. "The single moms that balance work, school, motherhood, and every day adult issues. The kid in class who stands up to the bully despite the consequences. The people that decide to do the right thing regardless if it's easy or inconvenient."
"Super Powers" is an honest song for real people who try to make a real difference on a daily basis. Aside from the content, the song is as wavy as they come. The genre-bending hip-hop/indie-rock vibe sets the tone for an amazing new sound.
LV Baby began making music and playing guitar during his high school years in Mississippi. He linked up with Black Bear when he moved to Atlanta. Since then, they created a band and have been lighting the city on fire by turning one gig into 3 or 4 every time.
Fresh off the heels of having his first release of 2017, “Stuck in the Middle”, land on Spotify’s “New Music Friday” and “U.S. Viral 50” playlists, SIDIZEN KING returns with “Roll the Dice”, an electro-funk jam that tackles the age-old challenge of escaping the “friend-zone.” Filled with clever lines like “I’m just tryna find my lane up in your track meet, you complain we all run games, but you stay chasing the athletes” King’s signature metaphor-savvy writing style compliments the smooth chorus and Ryan Spraker’s (Pell, Daye Jack) gliding production.
The latest emerging talent from the music and cultural hive of Los Angeles, SIDIZEN KING arrives at the cross section of electronic music and hip-hop with an experimental, hybrid sound that is quickly gaining an audience amongst both tastemakers and casual listeners. Amassing two million plays in the short year since he first stepped into the booth, Sid hopes to continue to deliver uncompromised lyricism and storytelling over captivating production.
There is a neighborhood tucked away in the eastern hills of Cincinnati called Silverton where two local hip-hop heavyweights hail. CITOAK and Kyle David may have emerged from separate rap clans as they rose through the proverbial ranks (Watusi Tribe, Five Deez), but fate within the Queen City is always but a sliver away and eventually brought the two lyrical forces together to form the appropriately named Sons of Silverton.
Now officially together as the Sons of Silverton, the duo has created their debut crown jewel, Or Forever Hold Your Peace. The full-length LP expected to drop in May 2017, highlights the personal and lyrical chemistry the two men share as rappers and as friends. Their complimentary styles blend seamlessly over the polished and steely beats of acclaimed New Orleans producer Prospek. Wisdom, reality and though-provoking word play drips from every track on the album as the thumpy kicks and ethereal musical tones of the beats combine to reside in the mind of the listener from the moment it's first heard.
Veteran contributing artists like Cincinnati rapper great Piakhan, jazz pianist Josh Jessen, bassist Jake Hellman (the Quiet Hollers), guitarist Chris Pennington (The Cliftones) and singer Dion Jenkins (Game, Hi-Tek) raise the production value to even higher heights and perfect the intended goal of a renown and cohesive masterpiece.
The first bite of this hip hop delicacy comes in the form of the single “You Know Them As”, where those with a pallet for such exquisite and refined tastes will surely soon salivate for more. Luckily for them and for the rest of us, the full array will be soon served on a silver platter, delighting ears, nodding heads and permanently marking the Sons of Silverton has a landmark in Cincinnati hip hop legend.
Toronto’s Trpl-R and The Quarter Inch Kings do it twice as raw on their new single “Twice Did”. Che brings onboard fellow Los Poetas member Louwop for this latest offering as the duo's deliver the third release from the anticipated "Product Of My Past" Lp. Dj pack includes Street, Radio and Instrumental versions. S/O Cura Designs for the Graphics.
Both Jade River and Deeskee have done a lot musically over the years, but they seem to be just getting started with...Zero Gravity. Jade River has had a busy couple of years releasing projects with Ariano, 2mex, Philieano, and his long-time friend and collaborator, Deeskee. Deeskee, known for founding LA2thebay, has released several albums and worked with underground crews like the Visionaries, The Shape Shifters, and Living Legends. His hip-hop style is about touching the abstract and experimental scene. Jade River, returning from the release of his single, "Wrong Side," delivers his fine-tuned production with Deeskee's roots in the LA scene. The process of this album results in a true blend of styles. Deeskee's live and sequenced arrangements allow Jade River to stand out with his bass-heavy, drum knocking presence. The album weaves in-between solo tracks where they both show off their own methods. Mixing the solo efforts with collaborative songs makes the project feel connected and unique. GroundBurst is an instrumental rock trio whose sound strikes for the band’s kaleidoscopic approach and wide-open mindset. The band consists of Phil, Si, and Erik, respectively on guitars, bass & keys, and drums. These three talented musicians set out to create a lush, diverse and textural musical backdrop, borrowing from influences as diverse as electronic music, psychedelia, rock and even jazz with a minimalistic flair. Their recent release, “Triad” is an EP featuring 3 original compositions, as the title of the release might lead you to guess!
These Are Truly The Last Days is a musical project with a driven experimental twist. Their music blurs the lines between various genres, including ambient, electronica, glitch hop, and more. The project’s self-titled studio effort features 11 studio tracks.
